2007 Good Year For Osha Enforcement 17/01/2008

Work hazards such as forklift truck accidents are some of the common and 2007 proved to be the year the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) clamped down hard on violations. OSHA made 39,324 inspections and cited 67,176 serious violations and had a 6% jump from the previous fiscal year 2006. There was also a rise in repeat cited violations which rose from 2,551 in 2006 to 2,714 in 2007.

The assistant secretary of labour, Edwin G Foulke Jr says that this is showing OSHA’s commitment to enforcing its standards. Foulke added, “The significant increase in citations documents OSHA’s focus on eliminating severe hazards in the workplace.”
Hopefully 2008 will prove to be a safer year yet, keeping forklift, truck, and machine accidents to a minimum.
