New Holland Worn Of Shortage In Farm Equipment And Combines 14/01/2008

Large farming equipment such as combine harvesters and tractors could be in short demand in 2008. New Holland said that demand for the T8000-T9000 series tractors and CR combines has increased in North America. This means European farming equipment manufacturers are already at their full production capacity to meet the demand.

The resurge in grain prices has meant that particularly in North America, corn prices and production has increased. This could leave Australia and New Zealand and the Oceania region in a possible shortfall of combine harvesters and tractors for this year’s season.

Mathew King, regional director for New Holland in Australia, NZ and Oceania region says that the pressure is on all manufacturers to get large product out of America. “Most of the factories are approaching capacity, or near full capacity- so an increase in demand from Australia is going to be very hard to deliver on.” King said.

King seemed to be happy with the company’s “strong December”, which saw the biggest increase in industry tractor sales since 2004.
